Faith or Fear
FEAR: It is so easy in today's society and world to be consumed by fear! We have fear over our jobs, our house, our family life and living in general. You can turn on any News program and listen to everything and anything bad, negative and fear based. It becomes easy to let fear run your life and dictate to you how to live.
Have you ever noticed how those who are glued to the TV, Newspaper, News Programs, weekly shows, talk shows etc. focus on problems, negativity and all the things in their life that is not going right? If you listen to and watch enough negative reinforcements you soon will only be able to see life that way.
When you live in fear you can't live in life. Life has it's challenges and ups and downs but you don't have to hang on to it. You have a choice to either see things as "my life is never good" or you can say to yourself "minor setback, tomorrow will be better". How do I know? I have lived it many times and it has taken me a long time to realize that a situation is only as bad as I choose to make it. If I focus only on the things that do not go right sooner or later I would begin to tell myself "why bother, it won't work anyway". There comes a time when you have to shake that and tell yourself that things can work out.
Recently I have had to face a fear, release it to God and pray everyday to help me. My youngest son who just turned 18 in June told his Dad and I that he was thinking of joining the Army!!! Wow one of my fears had now consumed me with overwhelming emotion and panic at "what could happen if he joined" and somehow my mind began to play out different outcomes. I would tell myself to stop just stop!!! I know that he is 18 and does not need my permission to do anything even join the Military. I am in a battle with my mind and emotions, praying for God to give me strength and peace and to be with my son no matter what he decides to do. For me I would rather my son join with my support and love than to have him join thinking his mom is mad at him and possibly doesn't care. He has not made a decision as of yet and wants to weigh all options, I know that God will help guide him. My prayers are that God will keep him in the palm of his mighty loving hand with every step he takes.
I remind myself of Mary the mother of Jesus, she carried Jesus for 9 months, gave birth and held that little bundle of joy in her arms. She raised him knowing all along he belonged to God. We may carry give birth and raise our sons and daughters but their life does not belong to us! Their life belongs to God, he has a purpose for them while here on this earth, a reason for being. The strength of Mary should reassure us and help strengthen us as Mary knew all to well how hard it was to "Let Go and Let God". This was a woman who knew the outcome, watched her son be persecuted, tormented and despised by many but she held on to God's Promise of "For God so loved the world that he gave HIS only begotten son". We need to believe that as we raised our children, although they may not show it, that we instilled faith in God, the right morales that they will recall and rely on as they walk in life fulfilling the purpose of their being. We are all here for a reason and if we learn to listen to the "Still Small Voice" of God inside each and every one of us we will hear and know what our purpose is. It will tug on us in our heart and mind until we do what it is we are meant to do.
Definition of Faith:
In the New Testament, the word faith is derived from the Greek word πίστις (pistis) or from the verb πιστεύω (pisteuo), meaning "to trust, to have confidence, faithfulness, to be reliable, to assure".
Faith is the confident belief or trust in the truth or trustworthiness of a person, idea, or thing.
When you go to a Doctor you have Faith in his abilities right? When you get in your car to go to work you have Faith or belief that you will make it to work. So why is it then when something bad or when minor misfortune strikes do you not have Faith? I would ask you to look back on your life and seek those times when things look dim yet worked out for the better. Did that not make you feel like you could face anything? I too have been in a time of financial/life needs and did not know what I was going to do to pay the bills or get by. I have learned that if I have Faith that everything will be okay and know that for every problem there is a solution things worked out. Let me ask you how many if any times have you been in need? Perhaps you checked the mail and there was a refund you did not expect? Opened your paycheck to find you were given a raise? We need to appreciate and be grateful for all the little things and times no matter how small something worked out.
For me I have learned to lean on and trust God for he knows what our needs are. God has always provided for my family. If a job does not work out trust that there is a better one around the corner, keep your Faith and believe in life. Don't let fear rob you of living and believing in the endless possibilities that are out there. Live in life and open your mind and eyes to see the good in your life and the opportunities presented to you. Be grateful for everyday you are given and give thanks for every breath you take.
May God Bless You,
